URA claim third straight win

Frank Kalanda struck the game’s only goal as URA edged Express 1-0 in a Uganda Premier League (UPL) match played at the Mehta Stadium in Lugazi on Friday.

The victory, the tax collectors’ seventh and third on the trot, moves them to 23 points albeit remaining put in fourth place.

It is contrasting fortunes for coach Wasswa Bbosa’s Express, who have now failed to win a game in their last three matches – drawing once and losing twice.

The defeat sees the Red Eagles drop one to seventh with 21 points from 14 matches. Express came into the tie on the back of a goalless draw with Vipers and a 2-1 defeat to Bul.

They badly needed victory in this to arrest the rot and keep their chances of challenging for the title strong.

But Kalanda had other ideas, the striker grabbing his fifth goal of the campaign to ensure maximum points for coach Alex Isabirye's side.
