Champs KCC stunned at Wankulukuku

Farouk Musisi struck the fatal blow on KCC as Lweza shocked the defending champions 1-0 in a Uganda Premier League (UPL) match played at Wankulukuku on Friday.

The defeat for coach Abdallah Mubiru’s KCC, the club’s third in 14 games, sees them drop one to third on 27 points, four behind leaders Vipers.

Victory for Lweza, their fourth in 14 matches, moves them up one place to 11th with 14 points.

Lweza were the more enterprising side in early periods albeit without any breakthrough.

KCC, who started with Brian Umony and Herman Wasswa in attack, had efforts from the aforementioned but without any affecting the scoreline.

It is the hosts, Lweza, who instead took the lead on 62 minutes when Musisi’s ‘intended’ cross after an inter-play with imaginative Mike Sserumaga ended in KCC’s net.

Mubiru did introduce striker Michael Birungi, brace hero against Soana, for Derrick Nsibambi but the hosts held their nerves to see out all three points.
