Vipers face off with Villa

Uganda Premier League (UPL) table leaders Vipers face their toughest test yet when they host second-placed SC Villa in Buikwe on an action-packed day involving seven matches across the country.

Third-placed KCC entertain Soana at Lugogo while Express welcome Bul at Wankulukuku, with Police making the trip to Lugazi to tackle URA among other potential crackers.

But it is in Buikwe where much attention will be fixed. Vipers go into this tie unbeaten having won nine out of 12 games so far, a run that has seen them top with 30 points.

On their part, coach Sam Ssimbwa’s Villa have won one game less that Vipers’ but the Jogoos have lost two matches.

They will be inspired to put a dent on Vipers unblemished run thus far. “I wanted to dislodge KCC from second place and we have done that,” Ssimbwa said after last Fridays 2-0 victory over SC Victory University, adding, “I also wanted us to put more pressure on leaders Vipers.”

On his side coach Edward Golola’s Vipers will hope to get firing again after the Buikwe outfit could only settle for a goalless draw in their last outing at Express last week. “We are one or two players short upfront,” he conceded.
