Giants’ day out as UPL rolls on

Four of the top six teams in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) are in action on Friday with each knowing there is little margin for error.

At Wankulukuku, Express will seek to become the first team to beat leaders Vipers when the face off in one of four games lined up.

Defending champions KCC also travel to Lugazi to face four-time winners URA with the former looking to close the gap on Vipers and the latter desperate to move up from sixth.

Still the only unbeaten team in the league, Vipers come into the tie against Express having won nine of their 11 games.

They picked up a 1-0 win over SCVU on Friday thanks to Musa Malunda’s lone strike and will hope to rack up another of those odd wins.

Coach Edward Golola will continue relying on his exciting midfield including Miya Farouq, Mike Mutyaba and Sadam Juma for creativity.

For Express coach Wasswa Bossa, he is out of options but to win after losing their previous encounter 2-1 to Police.

He will rely on skipper Willy Kavuma and Simon Sserunkuma for creativity through the middle.

The two teams go into the tie with log leaders Vipers on 29 points and Express third with 20.

At Lugazi coach Abdallah Mubiru’s KCC, second with 24 points, will look to keep up pace with Vipers by beating inconsistent URA.

But coach Alex Isabirye’s URA, who lie sixth on 17 points, know they must bounce back from the shock 3-2 defeat to bottom side Rwenshama last Friday if they are to stay in with a shout at a title challenge.
