Kajoba registers first win

Jimmy Kibirige Lule struck from a free-kick five minutes from time to hand coach Fred Kajoba his first victory as Bright Stars coach as they ran our 2-1 winners over Entebbe on Friday.

Akram Kakembo had cancelled Nasser Muzamir’s first half strike, both goals coming from spot kicks, before Lule ensured all three points in the Uganda Premier League game played at KCCA Stadium, Lugogo.

The victory, Bright Stars’ fourth in 11 games, keeps them eighth but they move to 16 points, four from the top four positions.

For Entebbe, who surrendered a 1-0 first half lead, it was their seventh defeat in 11 matches, and it keeps them second from bottom with just six points.

Bright Stars came into this tie having won one, lost the other and drawn once in their last three games. Their new coach, Kajoba, had been in charge of two of them but without claiming victory.

At it looked like his search for maximum victory would continue to the next match when Muzamir put Entebbe ahead from a spot kick.

Referee Ali Kaddu had pointed to the spot after infringement in the hosts penalty area and Muzamir did not make a mistake; sending Bright Stars goalkeeper the wrong direction to claim Entebbe’s only second goal of the campaign on the stroke of half time.

Kaddu was to point to the spot for the second time in the match for a push on a Bright Stars player in the box from a corner, Kakembo stepping forward to level on 67 minutes.

Entebbe were on course to getting something from the game but Bright Stars forward Lule had other ideas, sweetly sending in a free-kick from the left midfield to hand Kajoba his most needed victory.
